  • Minor peeling of the skin and some itchiness may occur, but they will disappear after a while.
  • The initial darkening of the skin is the effect when the skin cells are resurfaced by the bleaching cream.
  • Skin peeling is part of the process of skin whitening. When this occurs, the skin must not be scrubbed or scratched even when it gets itchy as this will result in an even darker skin.
  • Do not use on skin that is sunburned, wind burned, chapped, dry, irritated, or on open wounds.
  • Always wear sunblock SPF30 during daytime.

Lanelle Kojic Cream ad with modelWhat is Kojic Acid?

Kojic acid is a byproduct in the process of fermentation of malting rice that is used to manufacture sake, a Japanese rice wine. It is produced by different species of fungi such as Aspergillus, Acetobacter and penincilium. It is an effective inhibitor of plant and animal polyphenol oxidases that speeds up the conversion of tyrosine to form melanin.

Kojic acid is a natural substance obtained from mushrooms, its small percentages between 2 to 4% is used in different skin whitening products. Its products are mostly preferred since they are safe when used in the correct dosages.

This acid is considered to be natural and therefore it is safe for use in skin lightening as compared to other skin whitening products.

Benefits of Using Kojic Acid Cream

Kojic acid cream is a skin lightening product that some dermatological clinics recommend it to people whose skin is sensitive to hydroquinone, the most typical active ingredient found in skin lighteners.

Kojic acid also acts as an exfoliator on the skin, removing dry skin. Many people also use it to treat acne and various forms of hyperpigmentation. While it doesn’t produce results overnight, a steady regimen using kojic acid cream or soap can lighten skin spots over a period of a few months.

Kojic acid works to disrupt the skin’s production of melanin, which is the source of darker skin, including freckles and brown spots.

The body naturally produces a pigment known as melanin through specialized cells known as melanocytes. Our genes produce the same amount of melanin, but how much of it gets processed determines our skin color. In people with fair skin, only small amounts of melanin are processed by melanocytes, while larger amount of the pigment are made by the cells of those with dark complexions.

Moreover, the production of melanin does not occur in fixed amounts. The production is increased in response to environmental or internal conditions such as: sun exposure (causing the skin to tan), inflammations (common among acne sufferers) and pregnancy.

Repeated exposure to the sun can result in a permanent increase in melanin production in spots on the skin, causing small freckles and larger sun or age spots to form. And here is where the Kojic acid comes in handy.

Kojic acid is also an antibacterial agent, meaning that it interferes with the processes that bacteria cells must perform to thrive and reproduce. By disrupting these processes, kojic acid causes the death of bacteria.

Some dermatologists recommend the use of mild concentrations of kojic acid for addressing acne blemishes, which are often caused by bacterial infections in the pores.

Kojic acid and Melasma

When kojic acid is applied to the skin in concentrated amounts, the chemicals in the ingredient work on the melanocytes, interfering with the production of melanin.

In addition to its skin-lightening abilities, kojic acid is classified as an antioxidant. This class of nutrients has the ability to counteract the effects of particles in the air called free radicals, which have the potential to cause oxidative damage to the skin cells.

By limiting the effects of free radicals, kojic acid helps to prevent the formation of signs of aging that occur when the cells that produce the skin’s vital structural proteins become damaged.

Lanelle Kojic cream is a highly-effective skin lightener, that evens skin tone, diminishes freckles, age spots and hyperpigmentation caused by sun damage by 50% in just two weeks.  With long term use, dark spots are eliminated.

Bleaching creams are available in cosmetic stores and offered by dermatologists. Results may be impressive but it’s extremely important to be aware how to use these products properly.

diviney sumo preggyMany have incorrectly used skin bleaching products in the past, leading to burns, blisters and otherwise damaged skin. However, by following proper instructions, you can safely and effectively use skin bleaching products to achieve the skin tone that you desire.

Make sure you use a cream that is designed for your skin type and tone. For example, if you have oily, olive skin, you are going to want to use a cream that is specially formulated for this kind of skin. Also, you should purchase cream that is designed for the area you intend on using it. If you are planning on using it on your face, purchase a cream that is meant for the face. There are also creams that are made to use on larger areas of the body, such as the chest.

Do a Patch Test: In order to make sure that the cream is suitable for use on your skin, it is important to first do a patch test. Apply a small amount behind your ear, in the fold of your elbow or under your chin. Check the area you applied the product to after 48 hours and note if any irritation occurs, such as redness, inflammation or if any type of pain is present. If you notice any of these symptoms on the area you applied the product to, discontinue use. If you do not notice any harmful results, you should be able to safely use the product on your skin.

Apply Properly: Make sure to specifically follow the directions for application that are provided with your cream. Applying in a different manner than indicated by the instructions can result in damage to the skin.

Avoid Sensitive Areas: Avoid applying your skin bleaching cream to sensitive areas. The areas around the eyes and nose are particularly sensitive and should be avoided. If you have any other sensitive areas, avoid these, too. Some skin bleaching creams are formulated with different strengths for certain areas of the body, so be careful to follow the product’s instructions clearly.

Avoid sun exposure and wear sunscreen: Your skin will be particularly sensitive to the sun when using skin bleaching agents. Without proper protection, you could end up with severe sun damage. Make sure to apply a sun block with an SPF of 30 or above to areas that will be exposed to the sun. Further protect yourself by wearing long sleeves, long pants and hats.

Take Proper Care: Make sure to take proper care of your skin while bleaching. Cleansing, moisturizing and toning should be a part of your regular skin care routine.

It is best to use the bleach cream in the evening. So that after that you sleep and your skin is prevented from the direct sun contact for the next 7-8 hours.

Making the right choices about your skin care starts with knowing your skin type.

ronica contrerasDifferent skin types are genetically determined but choosing the best skin care for your face and body is essential to care for your skin’s health, slow the ageing process and look after yourself!

Skin types include normal, oily, dry, and sensitive. Some people also have a combination of skin types in different areas of their skin. Blotting a clean tissue on your face in the morning is an easy way to find out your skin type.

Your skin type can change over time. For example, younger people are more likely than older people to have a normal skin type.

Skin types vary depending upon factors such as:

  • Water content, which affects your skin’s comfort and elasticity
  • Oil (lipid) content, which affects your skin’s softness
  • Sensitivity level

Normal Skin Type: has good circulation and there will not be any trace of sebum (or oil) on the tissue. Normal skin is soft, with a smooth, even skin tone.

Normal skin is not too dry and not too oily. It has:

  • No or few imperfections
  • No severe sensitivity
  • Barely visible pores
  • A radiant complexion

Combination Skin Type: With a combination skin type oil is produced around the ‘T-zone’ of the  nose and forehead but not on the cheeks, mouth and eye areas.

Many people have combination skin, which may benefit from slightly different types of skin care in different areas.

Combination skin can produce:

  • Overly dilated pores
  • Blackheads
  • Shiny skin

Dry Skin Type: has a low level of sebum and does not maintain oil easily. Dry skin is often flaky and feels tight after being wiped.

Dry skin can produce:

  • Almost invisible pores
  • Dull, rough complexion
  • Red patches
  • Less elasticity
  • More visible lines

When exposed to drying factors, skin can crack, peel, or become itchy, irritated, or inflamed. If your skin is very dry, it can become rough and scaly, especially on the backs of your hands, arms, and legs.

Dry skin can easily develop a sallow tone, wrinkles, and fine pores, and it is very prone to aging and irritating. It might still look great on a young person, but, to keep it healthy, you should apply thorough care and use regular skin or beauty regimen with natural masks and moisturizers.

Dry skin may be caused or made worse by:

  • Genetic factors
  • Aging or hormonal changes
  • Weather such as wind, sun, or cold
  • Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from tanning beds
  • Indoor heating
  • Long, hot baths and showers
  • Ingredients in soaps, cosmetics, or cleansers
  • Medications

Here are some tips for taking better care of dry skin:

  • Take shorter showers and baths, no more than once daily.
  • Use mild, gentle soaps or cleansers. Avoid deodorant soaps.
  • Don’t scrub while bathing or drying.
  • Apply a rich moisturizer right after bathing. Ointments and creams may work better than lotions for dry skin but are often messier. Reapply as needed throughout the day.
  • Use a humidifier and don’t let indoor temperatures get too hot.
  • Wear gloves when using cleaning agents, solvents, or household detergents.

Oily Skin Type: will leave blots of facial oil on the tissue, particularly from the cheeks, nose and forehead. This type of skin has overactive sebaceous glands, producing more oil than necessary. Oily skin can be caused by hereditary factors, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, unsuitable cosmetics and stress, leading to acne flare ups and enlarged pores.

On the positive side, oily skin is not prone much to aging and wrinkling. Careful cleaning, minimizing of carbohydrate consumption, and avoiding rich creams can be helpful in improving the quality of oily skin.

Oily skin can produce:

  • Enlarged pores
  • Dull or shiny, thick complexion
  • Blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes

Oiliness can change depending upon the time of year or the weather. Oily skin can be caused or made worse by:

  • Puberty or other hormonal imbalances
  • Stress
  • Exposure to heat or too much humidity

To take care of oily skin:

  • Wash your skin no more than twice a day and after you perspire heavily.
  • Use a gentle cleanser and don’t scrub.
  • Don’t pick, pop, or squeeze pimples. This prolongs healing time.
  • Use products labeled as “noncomedogenic.” They tend not to clog pores.

Sensitive Skin Type: can mean different things to different people. It can be caused by skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema or allergies. Sensitive skin can become inflamed and irritated easily.

If your skin is sensitive, try to find out what your triggers are so you can avoid them. You may have sensitive skin for a variety of reasons, but often it’s in response to particular skin care products.

Sensitive skin can show up as:

  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Burning
  • Dryness

Lanelle Collagen Face Mask ad with modelIf you think that washing your face day and night regularly and applying facial toner after each wash means you don’t need to use a facial mask, think again. Here are 5 reasons why applying facial masks is so important.

1. Deeper cleansing- Regular cleansing removes dirt from the surface level of the skin, while facial masks actually draw impurities out of the skin, from the deeper layers of the epidermis.

2. Fight dead skin cells- Facial masks help exfoliate dead skin cells and unclog pores, which ensure your skin will look more toned, hydrated, and have better absorbency of your skincare products such as moisturizer and serum.

3. Better feel- Facial masks help to stimulate blood circulation; better blood circulation means your skin will feel smother and softer than usual.

4. Improve overall health- Facial masks improve the overall health of your skin, making it look younger and radiant. Facial masks also flush out accumulated toxins, and clear up blemishes, which helps to keep your skin healthier.

5. Because it’s fun! Yes, using facial masks on a regular basis is not only good for your skin, but it is also lots of fun to discover your new skin once you rinse of the mask. Make it your own special time, close your eyes, light up a scented candle and just clear your mind. After you rinse the mask off, you will feel much more refreshed and your skin will be glowing.
